(Missions and Social Concerns Committee)
St. Luke Lutheran Church is committed to spreading the word of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the corners of the world, locally and in cyberspace. Our church helps facilitate the following projects and services:
Easter
Baskets
Each year during Lent, St Luke Church distributes Easter
Baskets to poor children. Congregants have the opportunity to pick up
empty baskets and fill them with goodies for an individual child; either a boy
or a girl.
"Souper Bowl of
Caring"
On "Super Bowl Sunday," St. Luke collects cans of soup and cash donations from
the congregation for the hungry in our community. Last year, the food and
proceeds were donated to Helping Hand Rescue Mission in Huntington Station. This
year we delivered approximately 45 cases of soup to their pantry. Thank
you Congregants for your generous Donations
Thanksgiving Baskets
Each year St. Luke collects Thanksgiving baskets for the less
fortunate in our area.
Angel Tree
Each Christmas St. Luke participates in the Angel Tree Program, a program in
which prison inmates choose presents for their children, which are purchased and
delivered by members of the church. For the past two years we held parties for
the families of prisoners to distribute presents and spread the Good News of
Jesus birth. We had treats, story time, and sang Christmas carols.
