New! A pastor in Alaska was startled by a knock on his door at the crack of dawn one morning. One of the local Inuits was on the other side, he saw, holding a large fish. "What can I do for you, Kuniak?" the pastor asked, rubbing his sleepy eyes. "This is my tithe for the church," said Kuniak proudly. "I was out fishing all night and here is my ten percent." The pastor was awake now, but still puzzled. He saw no other fish on Kuniak's stringers. "How many fish did you catch during the night, Kuniak?" the pastor asked. "Only this one," Kuniak said, proudly handing pastor the stringer. The pastor took the stringer, but had one more question: "So where are the other nine fish?" Grabbing his fishing gear and heading quickly toward the shore, Kuniak shouted back, "Still in the lake!"

Oldie but Goodie! A young couple with two small children attend church on a regular basis. They did not have a financial giving plan. The practice was that each Saturday evening they would search the wallet and purse for "church" money. One Saturday night the search yielded a very small amount-- mostly coins. At this point Jim and his wife Joyce were ashamed. They discussed the past practice--and that it amounted to giving left overs. Through prayers and deliberation they decided that thereafter they would write out checks after the paycheck was deposited. Now the church contribution came first then the rest of the bills were paid. As a result the pattern changed from "left overs" to first fruits. And giving has no longer been "a problem" but blessings!

Simply Giving

Simply Giving is a way to help the church by giving weekly, biweekly or monthly electronically. After filling out a simple form you can get from church (rear tower), your weekly offering is deducted from your savings account or checking account once or twice a month. Not only does this help the church by eliminating fees charged for depositing item such as checks or cash into the church account, it also assures a regular income to the church. It's convenient, too, no searching for offering envelopes and check writing each Sunday!
